Run and jump
Here is a little running game I made this week, it’s a one button game. I came across a cool game called Fotonica and thought I would make a similar using the same control (only space). I wanted the character to be a female and get a bit of the feel from Mirrors Edge (so far I only managed to add some female sounds).
The 10 levels are randomly generated and not tweaked at all, some might not be finishable? If you finish a level you will snap to the start again.

If I continue with this game I will probably make the track twist and bend, just like in the olden c64 Stunt Car Racer which I used to play a lot when I was young. But I thought I would start simple just making a forward track where segments differs in height. Also I might bring in some Tiny Wings action, timing landings with downhills to get more speed.
Quite nice. The timing takes a while to get right. I think the game is too dark, though.
I loved the Stunt Car Racer game on C64 – I played that so much. 🙂

This game, despite sounding so simple, is actually a lot of fun. However, the long wait to play is soo long. My advice to anyone is to just wait it out and have fun1

Lol. This cracks me up, Jon. I like how you used the blocks around the character as an equalizer for the music. 🙂 It actually turned out quite difficult!

Great idea for a game. I bet it will be more fun with designed levels. The random generator made some impossible areas…
Thanks. I was afraid of that and yes they are probably pretty repetitive. If I continue with this I will either design them or make the track generator more interesting.

Fun! I got frustrated with the camera (it kept locking on my feet after I landed, making it hard to see the next jump), but I had fun anyway!

Amazing!! the bars on the sides are actually visualizations of any music coming from your speakers, including the in-game music and any other music you’re listening to.
Would it be possible to have PC’s sound used instead of the default music? i’d love to play and have it run along side itunes for example(no pun intended).

I like the game very much – so simple, yet so addictive. And I actually like the way you look down, when landing hard – it’s like when landing hard in real life :-). The game will be too easy, if you can see straight ahead all the time :). But maybe tweek the landing, so when landig really hard you look down, but in small jumps you just look forward? 🙂

Tack andreas, vi har det bra i frankrike, lite kallt dock. Yes the game turned out pretty hard will make some easier levels later. Hoppasas allt är bra i boden!

Amazing game, although I must say that due to the close quarter turning jumps, level 7 seems harder than 9.

Frikkin amazing… The concept is so simple yet so fun.. I love how difficult the timing is and the music is great. Btw in case anyone doesnt know, To start you just press 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, or 9. Great game though hope he goes through with it all the way and fleshes it out and it gets released.
the breathing sound effect is a nice touch that i have not seen in similar games

Love this even downloaded the swf file off the page, keep up the good work thanks I wish this game was longer and had more levels. Can you please keep programing this its so fun to play makes me fell like Sonic the hedgehog/Mario with the running and jumping.
only one key; I like the buttons. space run, space jump.
helpful hint space make gravity pull you down to the platform.
after a finishing a level keep holding the space bar you start the level with more speed.
This is addictive, though controls are totaly frustrating.
Exactly the same great mixture of awesome and frustration as Stunt Car Racer, i absolutely love it.
Please make it a full game, but don’t mess too much with the graphics… just like SCR this is a game that is probably better off minimalistic.

I know, the tutorial part is really bad. Try jumping in the uphill then land in the downhill while holding space – this will give you more speed!
